Smiles for Seniors Foundation held their 5th Annual Stockings
for Seniors Holiday Program Saturday December 17th.
Armed
with over 75 volunteers who joined the festivities they passed out gifts to the residents of nursing homes at Braswell's Hampton
Manor in Yucaipa and Palm Grove Health Care in Beaumont.
There
were tons of gifts for the homes such as WII games, digital cameras, board games, arts and crafts and each resident received
a special stocking
full
of goodies along with lap blankets, gloves, scarves and teddy bears.
The residents were delighted by the special performances of The Ontario Ovation Twirlers who
wowed the crowd, Sasha & Soleil played some of our favorite Christmas carols on their instruments, The Redlands Boys and
Girls Club Choir had everyone singing along, and a beautiful dance to Silent Night was performed by Sasha Savannah
and Jill.
The children and volunteers that
come to this event are so special, they are so loving and caring and really take time to visit
and give hugs to each and every resident in the nursing homes.
You can truly see the faces of the seniors light up brighter than a Christmas tree when they see everyone
from Smiles for Seniors Foundation pile in, it is such a great feeling.
The highlight of this event is the time is spent with the residents, some have very few visitors
and others receive no visits at all. Our goal is to alleviate the sadness and loneliness
that many seniors have while staying in a nursing home over the holidays.
We know that none of this would be possible without the wonderful and generous community support.
We just can't thank you all enough. You have made a difference in the lives of these seniors through your acts of kindness
and helped to make their holidays bright.
Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
